is it just me or do years go by progressively faster as you get older
Actually, our perception of time does change as we grow older.
Theoretically, if one were to live forever, aeons would pass in the blink of an eye.
I attribute it to the fact that we stop having “Firsts”.
First birthdays, first kisses, first books and loves and days of school.
Remember when summer seemed to last forever?
As we grow older, these milestone memories come less and less frequently, each day blending into the next. We, as a species, seem to measure time through these poignant memories.
Adult life lacks the constant discovery and endless novelty of childhood. We do not learn and explore the way we did when we were young.
I think, if you want time to slow down, pick up something new. Something fresh.
Learn something that requires effort.
Become a student again.
And take your sweet time about it.
